Chapter 11

For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom.

Audio- One traditional technology is the audiocassettes. Teachers can use these to play a book so the students can hear the different characters voices and they don't have to listen to the teacher read the story to them.  One emerging technology is Internet radio. This can be used in the classroom in many ways. The big way this can be used is by the teacher finding an interview with an author how is going to come visit the school or the classroom. This is then able to help the students understand more information about the person.

Visual- One traditional technology is print materials. These are always helpful because they are a good source to rely on and there are many different activities that can be done with them. One emerging technology is a document camera. This is very helpful when the teacher is trying to explain a certain problem. I would use this to make sure all of my students were on the same page and following along with me. This can also be used to correct homework or complete worksheets because the paper can be projected up on the white board and the students can go up to the white board and answer the question.

Chapter 6

Question: Based on the information in chapter 6, would you prefer to teach in a classroom that had more or less digital technologies? Why or why not?

I would prefer to work in a classroom with more digital technologies. This is because I believe that with more technology the teacher is able to reach more of his/her students. If students are able to use microphones then it will help their speaking skills and also their listening skills when they re-play what they said. Also if students are able to use touch screens then they will be learning hand eye coordination and learn by the way of touch. All of these are helpful because every student learns differently and if there are many options for the student then they will learn better because the technology is geared toward them. Since classrooms now have smart boards or Electronic whiteboards students are able to come up to the board to answer a question. This would help the students who are kinesthetic learners and also the visual learners, the auditory learners also benefit from this because they are able to listen to the teacher explain what is being done up at the board.

All About Me

I have the best family within PCC. I love disney movies and even have a VHS machine in my room. I have a little brother who is a sophomore in high school. I really like that this catches my spelling errors because sometimes I don't realize that I have spelled something wrong. I graduated high school in 2011 and I will graduate college in 2015. I have many siblings but they are not blood related to me.
